Energy Efficient Cities Initiative

The transportation research focuses on quantifying energy use and associated emissions from vehicle fleets. The work investigates influence of vehicle size, technology, and fuel from the bottom-up. Recently, we have developed robust methodologies for extracting engine maps from vehicles based on data collected on-the-go. The use of real-world engine maps and driving cycles allows better base line estimates of energy use and associated emissions, both currently and under various technology and policy interventions.
